This special report summarized key aspects of statistical reporting that might be most relevant to the authors, reviewers, and readership of American Heart Association (AHA) journals.

We have developed custom web data management applications for four of the TPS cohorts and are working on a centralized “umbrella” database to manage participants across all of them. All of the applications are attached to normalized relational databases which can be downloaded for analysis by authorized users.

All custom web applications contain web forms for data entry that are validated in real-time, reports for study teams to manage data and participants, and custom automation based on study needs. Some examples of automation include emailed links for participants to complete data entry at home, emailed or modal alerts for participant milestones, real-time randomization, and complex branching based on data input in real-time.

All applications are accessible by authorized personnel who are provided with a unique user name and password. Data are encrypted in transit and datasets are only available to those designated by the PI or coordinator.
